The phenomenological analysis of low-SES Hispanic students within the AREA154: Apocalypse Division curriculum.

The AREA154: Apocalypse Division curriculum is designed as a year-long immersive simulation that poses students as agents of an covert compartmentalized program. The goal of the program is to train students on how to survive 5 different end of the world scenarios using chemistry, physics and other STEM topics. The program was designed to move away from "traditional" instruction these topics in order to see if the apocalyptic narrative would engage more of these students and provide a better science learning experience.

Herding Cats: A Technology-based NGSS Physical Science Curriculum Implementation and Administrative Experience.

This research paper documents literature reviews of best practice for implementing new technology laden curriculum and the training of peer staff members. The results of the first 4 months of implementing, training, and using the AREA154 curriculum blended learning science curriculum is all documented in this report.

"Informal STEM Teaching and Learning Through Infusing Computational Thinking into Science Learning"

The Eduneering Initiative is a project that was born out of several classes at BSU that took on a life of its own. The program functions as a three-level merit based technology, creativity, and pedagogical training program. It teaches teachers to become independent engineers of their own instructional space.

Current Research Proposal:

The IVR-RAND Effect

This proposal suggest the use of EEG technology to investigate the effect that immersive virtual reality exposure can have on the a student's ability to focus on traditionally presented curriculum. Can you take a student some where virtually, provide them with reality accurate sensory experiences about a given subject, and then increase their attention and focus on the curriculum that would ordinarily be tuned out?

Area of Research

Applications of Virtual Reality will be the focus of research. Primarily applications to effort closing the achievement gap between poorer schools and schools who's populations are more affluent.
